Wire organizer provides convenient way to store and access wires.

Why
This project exists because I didn’t like how I had to “dig” for the right wires from a big pile. I used to keep them in plastic bags or original boxes that they came with, all stored in yet another container. Wire spools worked best, but I wanted them to:
- have consistent features, like the diameter of opening in barrels
- hold different-gauge wires efficiently; large spools waste space when holding short length of thin wire
- provide simple stoppers to hold the wire in place
Wire organizer was created to try and fix those problems.

Features
When assembled, the organizer:
- holds different-size spools, each includes a built-in wire stopper
- forms one cylindrical unit of 101mm (4”) in diameter; predictably fits in mid-size box like DIY Systainer
- uses 4mm (5/32”) shaft to hold spools
- uses a stand for attaching to surfaces
Spool Dimensions
The table below shows dimensions of available spools. Data in the table can be used to approximate how much wire of a specific diameter would fit on a given spool. For more details, see Reel Capacity Calculator.

STL Pack
STL pack contains 25 models of various components. File names contain spool-related parameters
like flange diameter and drum length as indicated by a letter from the table above.
For example:
- wos-1.65B-0.25C-outer_spool.stl
outer spool with flange diameter of 1.65 inches and drum length of 0.25 inches - wos-1.65B-stopper.stl
wire stopper is for spools with flange diameter of 1.65 inches
3D Printer Settings
Working prints were produced on Prusa MINI with:
- 0.6 mm nozzle
- 0.3 mm QUALITY
- 15% infill
- 4 perimeters
- PLA
